The cost of not linking is that I don't believe you

So yesterday as I was lazing about watching Up With Chris Hayes, Ms. Heel-Filcher* came into the room with her ears perked up because of something Hayes had said about education research. Upon rewinding, we found that the cited story, as reported in the Wall Street Journal, was claiming that, while previous generations have all tended to get more schooling than their parents, that trend is reversing.

This is, naturally, relevant to Ms. Heel-Filcher's interests, not least because of the myriad final papers she is writing as we speak. But in order for this to move from the "interesting" to the "useful" column, we need citations.

Twenty-Two...

lewd Chinese women... and how their court case is of continued relevance today, in the battles over immigration.

(Also, I'm in an informal writing workshop with the author, so send him a few clicks for that reason alone.)

Four more beers

There's a GSC general body meeting tonight, and you know what that means: scrambling to assemble all the various pieces that go into putting this particular show on the road every month. Particularly, getting all the VPs to write and send in the slides to go along with their reports, as well as any of the other agenda items that they're responsible for. Doesn't sound like much, but there are never enough hours on the day of a meeting.

What's unusual about this meeting for me, is it's the last one I'll chair: tonight we'll elect a new slate of officers, with someone else at their head, and they'll take over their responsibilities ASAP. People have asked me "are you sure you won't have another term as President... after all, you didn't go into the April meeting last year intending to walk out with this job..." Yes. Yes, you're right, and yes, I'm sure. I'm tired. I don't want the job, and someone else does, and I can't imagine the voters staging a coup and not electing someone as popular as Joe. And if they do, and demand that I keep the job? Sorry friends, but no. I love you all, but my hair's turning white and I've got a farm to get back to theorems to prove that I haven't even thought of yet.

Zeroth Post

Any logician worth her salt knows not to start counting at 1. Plus, that would trip the filter.
